UPDATE: Parish Responds to Data Center Concerns

After our earlier post discussing large-scale AI data center development happening elsewhere in Louisiana and the importance of transparency in St. Tammany Parish, parish leadership has issued a public statement.

According to St. Tammany Parish officials:

β€’ There is currently no proposed data center in St. Tammany.

β€’ No applications have been submitted.

β€’ No meetings have been held.

β€’ No formal project discussions are underway.

They did confirm that a private property owner is attempting to market land as a potential site, but no official proposal exists at this time.

We want to be clear β€” our original post also stated there is no confirmed data center project in St. Tammany Parish.

Our concern is not about a hidden project. It is about infrastructure planning and long-term transparency when utilities expand industrial load capacity.

Major energy infrastructure is often built before projects are formally announced. Asking questions early is not fear β€” it’s responsible civic engagement.

We appreciate the Parish clarifying their position.

Around Pearl River & Surrounding News & Events will continue monitoring utility planning, zoning changes, and industrial development across the parish.

Transparency matters.

Community awareness matters.

And when questions are asked respectfully, clarity follows.
